About Us

Mission Statement

The Intsika Trust’s mission is to provide assistance to those affected by HIV/AIDS by working in partnership with grassroots projects, particularly in South Africa.

Our Charitable Objects are:

  • The relief of poverty, sickness and distress.
  • The preservation and protection of health.
  • The advancement of education.

History

The Intsika Trust, a small UK charity, was founded in May 2010 by Diane Sharp. Diane, who was born in South Africa, was inspired to set up the Trust when she witnessed the devastation caused by the HIV/Aids epidemic as it took it’s toll on individuals, families and communities in South Africa. She founded the charity to raise awareness of the impact of HIV/Aids, to offer assistance and support to those affected by the disease and to partner and collaborate with the grassroots projects who were already doing amazing work in the communities most affected by the epidemic.

Intsika is a Xhosa word meaning source of strength and the strength comes from partnership and collaboration.
